shadowswaps/rea-reconstruction-companion is an open-source agent skill repository that works together with REA. An agent skill is a bundle of instructions and reference documents that an AI agent reads while working. The October 30, 2026 commit 9822c4f merged PR #87 and reconstructed the README around 'what this skill does.' The change size is 358 lines (208 additions, 150 deletions), and only two files were touched: README.md(+207/-149) and manifest.json(+1/-1).

The work flow presented by the new README has four stages: understanding, which organizes the observed behavior into requirements and unconfirmed items; planning, which decides what to build first and how to verify it; a stage that moves on to implementation only when requested; and a stage that verifies the result against the evidence and improves it. If REA is responsible for the tool that investigates software and gathers evidence, this skill takes on the role of moving that evidence into requirements, design, implementation, and verification. The body is plain Markdown in the Agent Skills format, so there is no model SDK, no paid API, no Python dependency, no telemetry, and no background service. The installation tool requires only Node.js 20 or later, and the installation tool handles the path differences between Codex and Claude Code, which read skills from the filesystem.

That said, this commit is a documentation cleanup, and the actual contents of the change to manifest.json were not given. There is no evidence that the code behavior has changed. The README states that it records the observed behavior, the inference, and the design choices distinctly and leaves missing evidence as gaps, and notes that passing local examples are not evidence that they match the original. It explains that installing it together with REA does not create two independent background agents, and explicitly states that the prohibition on paid behavior is only an instruction and not a mechanism that blocks charges. From the repository description and this commit record alone, the license, the star count, and the release version cannot be confirmed.
