electric-capital/quest is an open-source, self-hosted, security-focused AI workbench. The October 30, 2026 commit 6fc317df (PR #199) reworked the edit approval flow in Quest Docs. Previously, every time you fixed several scattered spots in a single document, you had to open a separate write_doc card for each edit; now multiple edits are bundled together and approved with a single card.
The tool the model uses, edit_doc(doc_id, edits=[...]), now accepts up to DOC_MAX_EDITS_PER_CALL (10) {old_string, new_string, replace_all?, note?} entries at once. Each old_string is matched only against the document body as it was immediately before the edit, so the edits apply independently of one another in terms of order, and overlapping edits to the same region are rejected. Failed edits are all reported at once, making it clear which numbered item failed to match. The bundle is applied in one write, producing only one History version, one updated_at update, and one pair of realtime events.
The approval card uses the multi_edit action for write_doc so that it holds the entire edit bundle, and inside the card the per-edit preview diffs, the apply locations, and the notes the model attached are shown in numbered order. The new component DocEditGroupPreview handles this rendering. Each item has an Apply checkbox so that only some of them can be applied; excluded items allow a one-line reason to be entered, and the button changes to something like Apply 4 of 5. Excluded items are passed to the route as skipped_items, and selections with out-of-range numbers, duplicates, or excluding everything are rejected with 400 invalid_selection. In the actual applied result, the omitted items remain as skipped, and the model sees that and does not propose the same change again.
There is a caveat, however: the preview is generated based on the body text immediately before approval, and at approval time the body is read again and the bundle is applied. If the document changes in the meantime, one stale edit fails and the card stays open, telling you which item diverged. The commit included a backend test file for bundled edits of 571 lines and frontend card tests of 223 lines, and the single-edit paths edit and append, add_image are unchanged, so existing cards keep opening. Repository metrics such as license and star count are not in the given material.
