sumervaid/reflex-tui was changed so that the WebAssembly files of the ONNX runtime (onnxruntime-web) used for embeddings are removed from the distribution package. The approach of copying the runtime files into the npm package and shipping them along was eliminated, and `reflex model fetch` now downloads the runtime separately from the npm registry within the same command when it receives the embedding model. The change went into the 2026-10-27 commit de5cacc, and is 224 lines added and 54 lines deleted in scale. The source is the commit de5caccd7c720fe07ec21a1b525c38cc0639bbe1 in the GitHub repository sumervaid/reflex-tui.

The model and the runtime are downloaded from huggingface.co and the npm registry respectively, and both are verified with SHA-256. A new item, 'runtime (onnxruntime-web) from registry.npmjs.org', appeared in the download table shown by the CLI. The README states that, in addition to the 23 MB lightweight model, the 14 MB WebAssembly runtime is fetched from the npm registry and used. The runtime is downloaded to the same location as the model and loaded there, and a verification module (runtime.ts, 102 lines) and a test (runtime.test.ts, 81 lines) were newly added.

Network policy was addressed at the same time. Reflex blocks network connections by default, but registry.npmjs.org was added to the list of allowed hosts that are contacted while receiving the model. In other words, a connection to the npm registry is opened during the model fetch step. On the other hand, how much the package size actually shrank, and what the pinned onnxruntime-web version number is, are not in the given material. How embedding behaves when the runtime has not been fetched in advance also cannot be confirmed from this commit alone. It is a change that leaves in place the premise of preparing the model and the runtime at the same time.
