glacierhubab/den released v0.6.1. Den is a terminal application that gathers already-running Claude Code agent sessions onto a single terminal screen, sends permissions, plans, and questions through one inbox, and lets you address a specific agent by @name or speak as an orchestrator addressing all agents at once. The release landed on 2026-10-29 in commit 309f71e, and it centers on agent role names, completion report confirmation, and a command for looking up work history.

First, names. An agent that Den displays with a title gets a validated role name such as @backend-engineer, while the critter (animal) name on the badge remains as an alias. You can change the name directly with `/rename <agent> <name>`, but Den never renames on its own. Agents on remote hosts are shown with the host appended after the name. Also, every message an orchestrator sends through Den requires a report on completion, and if an agent that started in the turn of a console paired with Den (paired console) ends without a report, Den tells that console's conversation. Mentions (@) are cut off at a punctuation mark, so the name and the body text do not get mixed up.

The permission criteria have become stricter. `console_powers = "always"` in config.toml now persists only if you press Ctrl+Y directly on that card in the Den window, and you have to press it again every time it starts and every time the setting changes. Lowering it takes effect immediately. The new `den stats [--days N]` reads only the values Den's own state file leaves behind and prints the number of turns, work time, time spent waiting on the user, and the mission branches that landed; it does not make estimates like time saved. SECURITY.md has also been added, and vulnerabilities are now received through the repository's Security tab as a private report. Cards read by a paired console are tagged with class and step, and the console that requested them gets a stronger answer check via card hash v2. File exploration is treated as ordinary reading only when the folder reached by following a link does not touch the user's keys or the folders of Den or Drey. The problem where a slow disk on a remote host was stalling the agent list, and the problem of Den mistaking its own console record saves for changes made by another program, were also fixed. CI runs the slow test suite additionally only for PRs that touch files such as internal/remote, internal/names, internal/ui, internal/fleet, internal/sshtest, cmd/den, go.mod, go.sum.

That said, the boundaries are clear. The README describes Den as a terminal orchestration platform that assumes Omarchy, that is, Arch Linux on Hyprland, and only says that it also works on other desktops without window arrangement. What is actually running today is just Claude Code; other agent CLIs are at the planning stage. The README included in the commit still has a part saying the latest release is v0.6.0 (2026-10-18), so the release notes and the documentation are off by one version. No separate work is needed for the upgrade, but you have to run Den again after installation. If you plan to run multiple Claude Code sessions on one screen, this release is worth a look, but for the purpose of bringing together multiple kinds of agent CLIs, it is still an early stage.
