egregore-io/egregore-nexus is event-based middleware that lets agent CLIs such as Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, and Hermes exchange messages with one another. They wake each other through webhooks, notifications, and their own events, and no polling is used. Commit cc42002 (PR #15), dated November 4, 2026, fixed the problem where boot failed before the display attached in newly launched Codex sessions. It targets headed runs that open a terminal, and it added 750 lines and removed 32 lines across 13 files.
What was fixed was the order in which the viewer is attached. Now a real user turn is created first, before the viewer is connected, so that the new thread ends up in a completed state. The default initial prompt is "Connected to Nexus.", and it can be changed with --initial-prompt. Next, includeTurns is put into the new thread/read request so that only stored history is read, and it repeatedly checks, within a single bounded time, whether the thread ID matches, the ephemeral flag is off, and the path and turn list exist. The display opens only once this preparation is finished. Sessions that were already attached and headless ACP runs do not receive this initial turn.
Ownership handling was cleaned up as well. A function was added that terminates only the waiting viewer, and bindings that were replaced with the same runtime and thread ID are left untouched. The execution of the boot turn is kept only within the scope of a single task and does not carry on as a detached asynchronous task.
That said, this change has not yet been bundled into a release. A new [Unreleased] entry appeared in the CHANGELOG, and 0.1.8 also remains Unreleased. Verification has stayed within tests that use the fake Codex app-server inside the repository and transport/protocol unit tests; the given materials contain no information on how common the same problem was in actual Codex installation environments.
