The latest commit of regnull/openbot, b67aeac (November 3, 2026 UTC), adds the ability to assign or revoke that server's tools to multiple bots at once from the MCP server edit dialog. Inside the dialog, each bot has a checkbox: it is checked if the bot already has all of the server's tools, and shown in an intermediate state if it has only some of them. Saving applies only to the bots whose state changed, and the way permissions are changed is identical to the server checkboxes in the bot editor.
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a specification that bundles the tools of external services so that AI can call them. This repository is a self-hosted platform that runs several AI bots that use tools as one team, maintains long-term memory, and hands tasks back and forth among them. The center of this commit is the setGroup function introduced in frontend/src/lib/toolGroups.ts. The existing toggleGroup was toggle logic that only revoked the tools when all of the server's tools were already attached, whereas setGroup performs either a full assignment or a full revocation regardless of the current state. The toggle function is layered on top of setGroup in order to keep the checkbox's three states as they are.
However, this change is limited to the frontend's permission editing path. The commit message states that it also contains handling whereby, if assignment to some bots fails, the bot list is refreshed and an error is displayed, but that part of the code cannot be confirmed in this record. The code shows that the approval list of a bot whose tools were removed is also cleared. If you open a server that has no tools at all, only connection guidance is displayed instead of the bot list. License and performance figures are not given in this commit record. The original can be found at https://github.com/regnull/openbot/commit/b67aeac543ee7008e465c9001692a84911058839.
