The latest commit in babych/zero-hop-code-skill (082b239, 2026-10-18) is a documentation change that modifies only SKILL.md. This repository covers a BM25/IDF-based codebase search skill that runs locally with no dependencies. BM25/IDF is a method that computes how rare a word is across the entire corpus to rank search results, and the skill adds symbol name matching and section boundary recognition (braces and HTML structure) on top of that, returning only the needed snippets in one pass without reading large files in full.

What changed is the description document that the skill hands to the model. It pinned down the point of use as “a mandatory option to use before Grep or View”, and newly added targets such as large HTML templates of more than 300 lines, UI components, and audits for missing multilingual keys (i18n checks). Search covers not only code but also multilingual tokens such as HTML tags and Cyrillic characters. Because running the search command automatically creates the index file, no separate indexing step is needed. The document also includes a short prompt example that can be pasted into any AI to wake it up instantly.

That said, this commit touched just one file, SKILL.md, and only 48 lines (31 added, 17 deleted). Because it is a change that refines the skill description and usage examples rather than the search engine code, it is hard to re-measure from this commit alone whether exploration results changed. The document states that incremental updates take about 0.15 seconds when files or branches change, but that is a statement from the README and there is no separate verification material. In conclusion, this repository leans toward token savings, but the actual amount of savings varies depending on the target repository.
