cadquery/cadquery is a parametric CAD scripting framework built on OCCT (a geometry computation library), and its latest release is v2.8.0. Because it is a Python module, you define dimensions and rules in code inside a script to build 3D models. Parametric CAD means keeping the rules and dimensions that make up a model in code, so that changing those values lets you obtain another version of the same shape.
The README explains that CadQuery is an intuitive, easy-to-use Python module that can create high-quality CAD models with short, simple scripts and adjust them to user requirements. Creating reusable precision shapes with little code is the point of this library. The models you build can be exported to STEP, DXF, STL, VRML, AMF and 3MF formats, and it also provides fillets, curve extrusion, lofts and nested assembly features. It also states that it can be used on servers or in scientific and engineering scripts.
There are, however, limits that need checking. The license is listed as NOASSERTION, so the distribution terms cannot be known, and the GitHub star count is 5968. No changelog for v2.8.0 and no performance comparisons with other CAD tools are given, and in the evaluation record only a momentum score of 3.5 was produced, while the novelty, technical and quality scores are empty. Even with a long operating history since starting in October 2018, performance and distribution terms should be verified separately. So for now, rather than a tool that can be put straight to work in a manufacturing flow, it is closer to an option that people who want to handle precision shapes in code should consider after checking its scope and license.
