tangency-labs/fieldcraft is an open-source analysis modeler written from scratch in Rust. It aims to take parametric models as input and produce structural, thermal, and fluid analysis results. The repository's latest release is v0.6.0, and the provided FACTS do not spell out the changes in this version. The license is Apache-2.0.
The core is an analysis path implemented in-house from meshing through the solver. It supports tetrahedral tet4·tet10 and all-hexahedral meshing, and provides linear and nonlinear structural analysis, heat transfer, and lattice Boltzmann fluid analysis. In the verification cases, the tip deflection of an I-beam cantilever was 0.176mm from the finite element solution versus 0.177mm from beam theory including shear. The hex20 analysis value for a filleted L bracket matched a fine tet10 mesh within 0.1%. Of the 176 physical quantities across the 50 public verification problems, 170 passed and 6 were documented as failures.
That said, input is limited to SolidCraft designs and tagged 3MF meshes, so it does not back compatibility across the wider range of existing CAD. No performance benchmarks are provided either, which makes speed and processing scale hard to judge. The README describes the project as early stage and lists buckling, the effective length method, and contact as next goals. So the strength visible today lies less in generality or performance than in bundling several analysis capabilities into a single in-house implementation path.
