ai4finance-foundation/finrobot is an open-source AI agent platform for financial work that uses large language models (LLMs). The latest publicly released version is desktop-v0.1.0. FinRobot Desktop, as described in the README, is a production-oriented research workstation built on PydanticAI, FastAPI, and React/Tauri. The repository is implemented in Python and released under the Apache-2.0 license. It has 8,256 GitHub stars. The repository was created on February 27, 2024.

The project targets the work of financial analysts. It is designed so that financial data collection, DCF (discounted cash flow) and comparable-company analysis, evidence tracing, and research report generation flow together inside a single application. It combines foundation models with financial tools, quant models, deterministic calculations, and multi-agent workflows (a setup where several AIs divide the roles among themselves), and the README also spells out the role boundaries. Financial figures are computed with pure Python operators, while the LLMs handle only reasoning, explanation, and report writing. The components are split into FinRobot Desktop, the self-hosted reporting web app finrobot_equity, and the educational AutoGen library finrobot_autogen.

That said, the areas with thin evidence are obvious as well. The individual change log and performance measurements for desktop-v0.1.0 are not in the given record. Of the evaluation scores, only momentum remains low at 3.5 (out of 10), and the freshness, technology, and quality items are empty. That it was released under the Apache-2.0 license is certain, but until the change log and performance evidence are confirmed, it is premature to call it a tool ready for real work.
