cranebeaker/coop-anything is a repository that guides agents in how to turn a single-player game into one you can play with friends. The per-game modifications are handled in separate repositories, while this one holds the playbook and tools an agent refers to while working. It is written in Python and is released under the MIT license.

The core idea is to split the work path depending on the state of the existing co-op mode. If a mode exists but is buggy or abandoned, it explains how to locate the problem in the last build and fix the code. If there is no usable mode, it presents a path that reverse-engineers the game and its engine to create a second player and align enemies and the world. Failure conditions, rollback, and verification criteria are also recorded in the playbook document. An MCP server for directory search and a PR inspection script are provided alongside it, and the games listed as in progress are Deus Ex, Fallout: New Vegas, Ocarina of Time, Dungeon Keeper, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl, and Clear Sky.

This repository itself has no playable output. Documentation and YAML data are the core, and there are no unit tests either. So there is not enough basis in this repository alone to verify the quality of results an agent produces by reverse-engineering a game. Rather than a finished co-op mode, it is closer to a set of procedures and reference material for restoring or building one from scratch.
