r44vc0rp/isocast is free, open-source recording software for Apple silicon Macs. The v0.0.6 release published on GitHub adds a projector, a tile view, and a vertical canvas. With the projector, the program, preview, signal, or any source can be put on another display or window, and preview, program, and signal can be viewed in a grid layout. The 9:16 vertical canvas records or streams alongside the main view, and when encoders are insufficient the vertical feed yields priority.

This release also strengthens editing features for working with recordings. It supports clip cutting plus timeline waveforms, snapping, rolling, and zooming. A .isoprj file is created for each recording folder and holds the edit, so it can be moved elsewhere. In audio, you can select the input for each microphone and set a mono switch for each source. A feature was also added that warns in advance when another app is using the encoder or when the machine runs hot. In obs-websocket, multistream is now treated as a single stream, the way OBS does.

According to the repository description, each source is recorded to a separate file and CPU usage is roughly half that of OBS. It is written in Rust and supports CLI and MCP control. That said, the target for this software is Apple silicon Macs, and the measurement conditions behind the CPU comparison are not given in the available information. It is therefore appropriate to treat the roughly-half figure as a claim from the repository description.
