nousresearch/hermes-agent v0.22.2 is a release published on October 15, 2026, replacing v0.22.1, which was built from a bad commit. It fixes a problem where, after a reboot, the gateway refused to start in systemd, launchd, and Docker environments because it mistook an unrelated running process for a running gateway. Boot ID and host lock checks were used to identify the cause.

The core of the change is correcting how the gateway determines whether a process is running after a reboot. Misidentifying an unrelated process as the gateway caused startup to be refused in those environments, and v0.22.2 resolves this by checking the boot ID and the host lock. This release therefore replaces v0.22.1 while addressing the gateway startup refusal reported across the three environments. It also improves retry behavior so that, when a long local model conversation on a laptop is interrupted by sleep, the retry excludes the sleep time.

However, a known issue remains: sessions run on a 0.22.1 gateway cannot be deleted in 0.22.2. The gateway startup issue and the retry behavior on laptops are fixed, but there are limitations in deleting sessions that were run on a previous version's gateway. This session deletion problem has not been resolved, separately from the improvements in this release, so this limitation needs to be taken into account when dealing with earlier sessions.
