Niko1221/Strata v0.1.44.1 is a hotfix released on October 14, 2026 that fixes startup errors and related issues seen on older CPUs. It fixes a problem where the init routine of the NVFP4 lookup table executed AVX/FMA instructions and terminated with SIGILL on Xeon X5670 without AVX2 and on Sandy/Ivy Bridge. Rather than broadening existing features, this release is a maintenance version that addresses CPU compatibility, builds, and the server's crash handling.
Strata is a project that installs an inference engine for consumer hardware on Windows and Linux and serves OpenAI and Anthropic APIs on localhost. Image input can also be selected. This change generates the NVFP4 table at compile time and moves the CPU support check to the point of first use. tools/check_isa_guard.py checks whether AVX instructions are used in the init routines of the relevant file. This is a change aimed at the problem of incorrect instructions being executed during startup on CPUs without AVX2.
The server no longer retries engine crashes three times after misidentifying them as AMD driver contention, and does not retry on signal crashes. The __ushort_as_half host function, which blocked builds with the CUDA 12.0/12.1 toolkits, was fixed by expanding the bits directly. A correctness bug on Apple M2 was also fixed, but the answers are identical to those of 0.1.44. Therefore, the changes observable in this release are fixes to runtime errors, build paths, and crash handling, not to the answers themselves.
