bherbruck/solidcraft v0.12.0 is a parametric 3D CAD application written in pure Rust. Parametric design means that when you change dimensions or constraints, the shape is recalculated to match. The project provides a desktop app, a browser environment and an MCP server, connecting its modeling features to multiple runtimes and automation tools. The README says the constraint solver is also implemented from scratch.
The key point is that it puts the CAD features for producing and reviewing designs together with the automation path in a single project. According to the README, 75 of the 76 public reference parts match analytical calculations or FreeCAD computations in volume, surface area, center of mass and bounding box. The remaining one is recorded as a bug being tracked. The README also notes that planning and evaluating 78 reference meshes takes about 65 ms, 50~65 times faster than the existing meshers. The crate is composed of 11 crates and supports STEP AP242, IGES 5.3, 3MF, STL and OBJ export as well as URDF assembly output. It is dual-licensed under Apache-2.0 and MIT. The project has 209 test files.
That said, the position the README itself gives is that it is an early stage worth using for simple parts. The accuracy and speed figures are evaluation results presented by the project, not performance independently verified here. It is therefore difficult to judge the stability of complex designs or overall superiority against other CAD tools based on these numbers alone. The implementation does span desktop, web and MCP, but the caveat that its scope is at an early stage should be kept in mind.
